Eyewear Retainers

Gateway Safety eyewear retainers are accessories that attach to safety glasses temples to keep eyewear secure and prevent drops. Available styles include the Gizmo (adjustable cotton, narrow temples), Doodadz (nylon/polyester blend, fits most temples), and Cordz (loop-tip, fits nearly all temples). All include a breakaway safety feature.

Gateway Safety retainers are designed to fit a wide range of temple widths. Gizmo is best for narrow temples, Doodadz fits most standard temples, and Cordz' versatile loop-tip design makes it compatible with nearly all eyewear styles — not just Gateway Safety products.

The breakaway feature allows the retainer cord to release under significant force, such as if it becomes caught in equipment or machinery. This prevents the retainer from creating a strangulation or entanglement hazard, making it appropriate for use in active industrial environments.

The Gizmo retainer is specifically designed for narrow temple eyewear. It features an adjustable toggle and is made from 100% cotton, providing a secure fit on slimmer temples while remaining comfortable for all-day wear.

Yes. Eyewear retainers with breakaway features are especially recommended in food processing (to prevent dropped glasses from contaminating product), overhead work, and near moving machinery. Gateway Safety retainers keep eyewear secure while the breakaway design ensures worker safety if a snag occurs.
