The Contra-Band™ MTek® is the metal detectable version of the Contra-Band™ banded hearing protector. It features metal-infused resin plugs that can be identified by in-line metal detection systems — making it specifically designed for food processing and pharmaceutical environments where standard Contra-Band™ may not meet contamination control requirements.
The Contra-Band™ MTek® carries an independently tested NRR of 22, providing effective noise reduction for moderate to high-noise environments while allowing workers to quickly insert and remove the plugs using the convenient under-chin band design.
In food processing environments, any PPE that could break and contaminate product must be metal detectable. The Contra-Band™ MTek® uses metal-infused resin throughout the plug tips, ensuring that if a plug fragment enters the product stream it can be identified by metal detection systems — supporting HACCP compliance.
Yes. The banded design of the Contra-Band™ MTek® allows workers to quickly move the plugs away from the ear canal without fully removing the band — simply pulling the band down under the chin keeps the plugs accessible for reinsertion. This is far more practical than pocketing and retrieving disposable earplugs repeatedly.
Yes. Like the standard Contra-Band™, the MTek® version features replaceable plug tips. When the metal-infused tips wear out, replacement tips can be fitted to the existing band hardware, maintaining both metal detectability and hearing protection performance.
